8 weeks to go.
On Friday, Jacob finished one week of the SFCFD's Academy. It wasn't easy, and the hardest parts are still ahead, but we are celebrating each little victory. Beginning tomorrow he will begin commuting to Stanley, outside Moriarty, and beginning PT. His superiors have warned them that this week will be "Hell". The fire academy is paramilitary-style, including marching, polished boots, pressed uniforms, proper manners & frequent push-ups. We enjoyed a 'Sabbath' day of rest following the busy week together with a slow morning/breakfast, walk in the Bosque, and just relaxing downtime.
One Gospel truth that I have been reminding Jacob of this week is:
"God is gracious, so I don't need to prove myself."
In an environment that is all about "proving yourself", this is a much-needed truth to meditate on. How does this truth apply in your life this week?
