Thursday morning we left the Kelley's home in Bovec, SLO and drove about 3 1/2 hrs to Venice. We checked into our hotel in Mestre, on the mainland of Italy, and took a train to the actual island of Venezia.
The next several hours were spent wandering around the city, finding St. Mark's Square, fighting through the crowds of tourists (I can't imagine how crazy it must be during the busy summer season!).... Venice is a beautiful city, and very unlike any we have seen before! We got lost wandering through the little streets, just as the tour books recommend. Here's a few glimpses through our eyes...

Returned to Mestre with sore, tired feet about 7 and ate dinner in the restaurant attached to the hotel- Soul Restaurant. Hit the sack and prepared for another busy day!
