Back in SLO

Ahhh... how wonderful it is encounter familiarty once again! It was so assuring to see the Bell's and be in Maribor again.

Yesterday we drove from Salzburg to Vienna without a problem and headed directly for Schonnbrunn Palace! It was absolutely amazing.... What a vast property of gold buildings, perfectly manicured gardens, sculptures & fountains, historical significance and of course, many tourists! We took the Grand Tour w/audio guide (in English), got lost in the Mazes, enjoyed an amazing view from the Gloriette Terrace, watched the strudel demonstration at the bakery, and strolled around the gardens for hours!

After touring the palace & grounds from abut 1-6pm, we headed for the guesthouse -"Airport to Heaven" which was about 30min outside of the city. 2 hrs later we found it and walked up to an unlit gate/building and nervously looked around for some sign of life. A few men were smoking outside and we started asking them questions, but they only spoke German. Finally a boy came out who spoke English and we discovered that he was the property manager's son. His parents were not at home, and apparently had forgotten about our reservation. Fortunately, there were rooms (zimmer frei) available and  the boy took us upstairs. Not quite what we had expected, but it was a safe room where we were able to rest our exhausted selves.

This morning we checked out of the guesthouse, walked around the town (Guntramsdorf) and found a small bakery to have breakfast at. Then we headed for SLO!
