Home Study IP

    Adoption Update:
A couple weeks ago we finally submitted the HUGE stack of paperwork for our home study! That includes everything you can imagine: copies of every type of insurance and licenses, Dr's notes, tax records, pay stubs, questionnaires about our parents, background checks, essay questions.... I could go on. But I won't.

This morning, we had our first official interview! The social worker, L, who we are working with from Adoptions Plus came over for about 90 min and it was actually much less intimidating that I was expecting. Ha! She just asked us about ourselves, our lifestyles, our families, our motives for adopting, etc. Then we showed her around the house so she could check off that we have a fire extinguisher & emergency contact list posted in the kitchen, and other safety things like that. She was very friendly and made us feel comfortable. And she loves Jesus! What a blessing! It was encouraging to hear that we were the most prepared couple she has ever interviewed! Now, granted most of her experience has been with CYFD Foster families and the like, but still!

Our next step is individual interviews where L will sit down for 45min-1hr with each of us separately to talk more in depth about our background, hobbies, schooling, friends, discipline, etc. Those are scheduled for next Wednesday, Dec 19th. Once she has all the information, she will compile the paperwork/information for completion.

The final step is a Newborn Parent Training through the Adoptions agency in Jan to get us ready to be on the waiting list.

Woohoo! We are so excited and praying hard about who God has in store for us!
