As with many DIY projects, life gets in the way and things don't happen as quickly as you hope. The large pile of flooring boxes has been sitting in the garage for the past 6 months. Well, we finally saw a 4 day spread that we both had off coming up this week and decided to jump on it! Here's where we started:
| Before - isn't it cozy??? :) |
1) Bring the flooring into the environment where it's going to be laid and allow at least 48 hours of acclimation before putting it down. -Done on Sunday!
2) Move all furniture out of the way and clean out room. -Check!
3) Carefully remove baseboards (you will use them again later!), tack strip, and old carpet. -Check!
4) Remove carpet padding until just the concrete is exposed. -Check!
| sure looks bigger now! |
5) Vacuum up all the crap you find underneath the old stuff. -Gross..... Check!
6) Measure, cut, and apply vapor barrier (this goes between the concrete and laminate flooring).
[This is the current step we are on, so more pictures to come!!! haha]
TO BE CONTINUED.....
