Oct: Balloon Fiesta of course... we volunteered with Make A Wish to sell programs & calendars. It was the last year that MAW used this as a fundraiser. Really enjoyed the Lovelife conference with Mark Driscoll and all the cooking/babysitting we did for friends. Also did some hiking and shooting (photography that is)... My parents took a 2 week trip through Israel, Egypt, and Jordan and had a blast; my dad still lights up like a kid in a candy store when he talks about it!
Nov: Basketball season got going with the UNM Lobos and SLC Storm. My girls started out a bit rough, but have greatly improved since then! Thanksgiving was my holiday to work this winter, but it was nice and quiet on the floor. The staff brought a delicious potluck to share and we had a great day. Jacob also worked Thanksgiving day for the FD in Edgewood. J&I enjoyed a nice dinner with friends and my family the day before. No Black Friday shopping for me.
Dec: December was full of baking, Christmas parties, basketball, lights, and work. Christmas Eve we attended service at MHC and spent the evening just the two of us, opening our gifts for one another. Christmas morning we headed up to Santa Fe for a quick breakfast with Jacob's family. Then we came back down to ABQ and had lunch with my family. Something memorable about this Christmas was the coincidental receiving of a Kung Fu Ninja Hamster by every single person (jacob, david, becca, jonny, mom & dad!) except me (all totally unplanned). Gift time was followed by turning the kitchen floor into a battle arena. Funny stuff.
Jan: On the 3rd, we celebrated our 2nd anniversary with a short trip back to Pagosa Springs, CO (where he went on our honeymoon) & a day of skiing at Wolf Creek! Stayed in a great little cabin at High Country Lodge. Our dear friends, Tina & Tim, were married on the 15th. Not only did we have the joy of spending time with them, I also photographed their wedding with the help of a friend. On the 21st, our niece, Alyx, celebrated her 1st birthday! She is growing up so fast and is a joy to be around. Jacob's 6 month checkup/scans with Dr. Quinn were all clear! We continue to thank Jesus for being cancer free. Also thankful for the blessing of Jacob passing the state insurance exam on his first try!! I'm so proud of him. :) Jan ended with Annual MAW dinner at the Sheraton.

Feb: Jacob is beginning work with AFLAC insurance company. He will start slowly, working with his mentor for the next several weeks until he can take the new agent sales class in March. And as always, he'll be busy helping deliver flowers for Valentine's Day at Barton's. This morning he had endodotic surgery on an infected tooth root. Not fun at all. They sent him home on antibiotics, chlorhexidine mouthwash and pain meds. While still swollen and somewhat numb, he is recovering well. Hoping he recovers quickly and will be good to ski again Monday for another quick trip back to Wolf Creek with Paula and Reed!
We still love our community group and are seeing Jesus do mighty things amongst/through our 'family'. We are praying about where God wants us to be serving in our church... considering college ministry/young marrieds. Our hearts still jump with excitement over the Passion movement and we'd love to be part of that again.
