Finally Posting an Update....

          So I’m sure that a lot of you are wondering what has been going on…. Well not much has changed. Meghan and I met with Doctor Quinn this past Tuesday and he said that he was very happy with how things were healing. As far as the speed at which things are healing, Dr. Quinn said “These things take time, so it will just be a matter of time.” Second, the results of the scans I had last week were all clear. The area that the tumor was did not show up real clear, however, that is most likely due to this last surgery and remaining inflammation/scar tissue. The good news is that according to the scans there is no other cancer anywhere in my body! Praise the Lord!!! 

Now about the road ahead… Since my incision is still not healed, Dr. Quinn wants to wait until it is completely healed before we move on to another surgery. The plan is to meet with him on May 18^th to see how my incision is healing. At that time we will discuss in further when would be a possible date for the next surgery. According to Dr. Quinn there is no rush to have the third surgery because one, he doesn’t think there is any more cancer left, and two, if there is any cancer it is slow growing and will not spread. In the next surgery Dr. Quinn will take out additional tissue around where the tumor was. They will then biopsy that tissue and as long as there isn’t any cancer in the tissue, they will just monitor me and we do not have to do any treatments. If there happens to be any cancer cells in the tissue then we are back to plan A which is low dose chemo and radiation for six weeks. We are looking forward to getting the next surgery behind us! However, it will most likely be three to four months from now. 

        Both of us are doing very well! Thank you all for all your prayers! Meghan is continuing to work at the PSCU at UNMH and helps me focus on my well being. We are both using this opportunity to change our lifestyle to honor the Lord more through how we care for our bodies.  We are truly trying to live out 1 Corinthians 10:31 which says, “So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” God is doing mighty things though this and we are excited to be a part of His plan!

        Our summer looks to be off to a great start as Matthew and Chrissy (Jacob’s brother’s family) will be coming to visit, along with Jacob’s Aunt Lynne. We are looking forward to visiting with all of them in about a month. Our dear friends, the Bell’s, are also coming to NM this summer. They currently serve as missionaries in Slovenia and we had the privilege of working with them while we were there in 2008.
