| the bday dress! |
Wow, the first year is already over! Can't believe how fast time flies with Lily around.... Of course, we had to celebrate with a little party!!! I even baked a smash cake for her, entirely from scratch! Lots of work, but worth it.... it was pretty delicious.
So many firsts.... it's been an incredible journey so far, this thing called parenthood. SOO much more difficult than we ever imagined!! Yet beautiful, precious and more delightful than we expected.... It's challenged our patience, summoned perseverance, and grown our faith. We have more clearly seen God's heart as a Father, who adopts, loves, and cherishes a child; who says "no" to protect us, teaches us new things, and provides for our every need when we can do nothing to earn or deserve His care; who hears our cries and comforts us, yet unlike us, knowing exactly what we need.
We love Lily. And we love being her mommy & daddy. By God's grace, we will help show her how much Jesus loves her too.

She was a little timid starting out.... Just looked around at everyone, eyed the cake, and waited. haha
 |
| Dad helped get her going... |
 |
| soon she dug in with both hands! |
 |
| chocolate beard! |
 |
| starting to glaze over... |
(Just to clarify, she did not finish the entire cake. The remainder was removed from her tray.)

| Success! |
We are so thankful to all our friends and family who came out to celebrate with us!!! It was so much fun, a special day and a reminder of how much we are loved.
