"So, how is the adoption going?"

         We hear that question every week, if not several times a week. Don't get us wrong - we like hearing it because it shows us that you care. You pray. You love.

        But it's also hard sometime because we don't have any new updates for you. I think some just don't understand things, so I thought I'd explain it. Here's how it works.
 

1. Apply to agency, get background checks, fill out forms, & pay them $.   DONE
2. Complete Home Study paperwork & Interviews, pay more $.   DONE
3. Write a letter to the birthparents about who we are and why we are adopting for the agency's website.   DONE
4. Wait for a birthmother to read our Profile and choose us......  ______
5. Receive a phone call from adoption agency that we've been chosen; meet with birthmother (if desired), prepare for baby, pay more $.  _____
6. Receive a phone call when baby is born. Go to hospital and have baby placed in our arms until discharged. Wait for 48hrs in case birthmother changes her mind.  _____
7. Pray that birthmother goes to court within first week to surrender parental rights. Pay more $. ____
8. A few months later, go to court to finalize adoption. _____

 
As you can see, we are on Step #4 and there's nothing really we can do now except WAIT.

If we had any new info or heard from the agency that someone chose us, you'd know. TRUST ME. We'd be shouting it from the rooftops! So, please don't get discouraged when you ask & we don't have anything exciting to share. This is just the stage we are in. Waiting.

We are content in that though. We've heard snippets here & there about potential birthmoms but nothing has come to fruition. "I have a friend of a friend whose 15 yo daughter is pregnant...." It's difficult to hear of that possibility, get our hopes up, start praying, and then have nothing come of it. We long for the day when we will get to bring home our baby! But Jesus is helping us to embrace this season of hoping, waiting and praying together.... of working similar schedules so we can have days off together each week.... of planning vacations and spontaneous date nights.... of going on bike rides, evening walks, and serving friends.... of slowly accumulating baby stuff from generous friends.
We are SO thankful for this season.
